Oh yeah, I forgot. My guild does alliance hop a bit (4 or 5 alliances since Factions). We've pretty much stuck with one other guild through all of them. We were in the TAM alliance as well before it became the TAM allaince of GWG fame. Me and King say hi Silly Warrior.

Through friends of a friend of a friend. Now the friend I made that first got me involved with it all is pretty interesting: I was observing a GvG and some guy said "gonna be VoD soon" and I was confused. I asked "What's VoD?" and he explained it to me. I then said "Oh, that's a pretty cool explanation. Apparently, he thought I was being a smartass or something and then whispered me and started swearing at me. I was like "I seriously didn't know anything about GvG! What's going on!?" Turned out to be a big misunderstanding on his part. He turned out to be one of the coolest people I've ever met on GW.

Neither of us play a whole lot anymore, though. He was a pretty awesome guy.

Real-life friends. If I never drank a beer with you on a saturday night, you won't be in my guild. You probably don't want to anyway.

Before heroes, good players were often in PuGs so you had a mix of good/bad. Now good players can H/H everything, removing the good talent from the pug pool.

This is a major negative to the GW community. Heroes are an asset to the game in many ways, but they've crippled the community in many ways too.

my guildies are mostly family. Alliances are friends we found online while playing. But we are very small as guilds go and spend most of our time playing together.

Pugs - been one a time or two, had some good groups and some that were so awful it almost made me cry. lol I've been cussed at, laughed at, called a liar, you name it by pugs. I avoid most of them with a passion. Last time I dealt with one he wanted to kick me cause I play a smiting monk, not a healer. Mind you I came to help THEM complete the mission, I already had it. I don't mind helping, but I dislike rude nasty behavior. He was kicked from the group but sheesh... And it is soooo much easier to discuss things with teamspeak.

so mostly I play with h/h when no one in my guild is around.

I know it's strange to say but... I actually have no idea how I met all of my friends. It just kind of happened.

FFFing, I met some good people. I joined their guild. They were in a large alliance. I spent a lot of time with the alliance members. The guild died, I switched to stay in the alliance after my guild was booted for inactivity.

At the time, FFFing was more efficient than heroes. Not anymore though.

Mine is composed of real life friends. Except only two of us are active now. And I am more active . Its a lonely life being the leader of a lonely guild...

I was the noobie @ my guilds previous specialization (farming). My brother brought me in and I learn fast. Still prefer to H/H 90% of stuff though, even though most of my guildies/allies are good to awesome players.

@ Cebalrai, I can see some of your point, but I believe H/H makes bad players better, since H/Hwon't compensate for a bad players faults as much as a pug would.

My guildies are my friends outside of the game. Our leader is my best friend and one of the guys is her husband; I was the maid of honor at their wedding. The other girl I've known for years. The last guy heard of us through the wiki and liked the fictional world we based our guild and characters on and was interested in joining.

I've never had a guildie gotten through recruits or PUGs. :P One time somebody in Kaineng asked to join my guild because they liked the spiral on my cape, and I felt a little bad about it but turned them down.

Old GW Ogaming forums.(RIP) They had a nice active section in the forums there and they seemed like a nice bunch.

If you're not willing to go look for a nice guild on your own, you'll never find one. The good ones won't hassle you in Ascalon begging you to join.
